3BCAR Carnot Institute - Bioenergy, biobased

molecules and materials from Renewable Carbon

3BCAR is a research network which aims to ensure the use of

research results by the business in order to promote the development

of innovation, technology transfer and public-private partnership.

It brings together about 500 researchers, ten technological platforms,

three centers of technological resources and one pre-industrial

demonstrator; whose skills are divided into four areas:

1. Biomass and green biotechnology

2.  White biotechnology (use of enzymes and microorganisms)

3. Physical and chemical biomass transformations

4. Global analysis of systems and sustainability requirements

Contribute to the emergence of bio-based economy by helping

industry to innovate in green chemistry and bioenergy

Target markets

•

 Producers of biomass and
intermediate agricultural products

•

Administrations

•

The green and white biotechnology
companies

•

Energy producers

•

The chemical industry

Development axes of 3BCAR activities

1-  Global analysis of systems to evaluate impacts of changes related to the use of

renewable carbon

2- Biomass adaptation for new uses
3- Substitution of current processes by biotechnological processes
4- Complementarity of chemical and biological processes for use of defined functions

3BCAR provides research

expertises to companies interested

in uses of renewable carbon,

for example:

  Manufacturers of transformation tools

(bioreactors, enzymes,

organic chemistry…)

  Manufacturers or users of biomaterials

(automotive, packaging,

building industry...)

  Manufacturers or users of bioproducts

(biolubricants, agro solvents,

surfactants...)
