AVATAR MEDICAL raises €1.2 million for its virtual reality medical imaging solution for Surgeons

Spin-off from 2 Carnot Institute Curie Cancer and Pasteur MS, AVATAR MEDICAL announces a €1.2 million fundraising in pre-seed (with investors including Institut Pasteur), for its virtual reality solution that aims to radically change the way surgeons access, interpret and act on clinical data contained in medical images. Founded in July 2020, the company is based on the DIVA technology developed since 2016 by the Cellular Organization Imaging and Control Team, through its former director, the late Maxime Dahan, in collaboration with Institut Pasteur.

Through the instant generation of 3D and virtual reality representations of medical images of patients, the technology developed by AVATAR MEDICAL makes it possible to understand complex morphologies and thus avoid mastectomies, operate more quickly on aneurysms or decide to operate on complex fractures. “Intelligent” filters preserve the integrity of the imaging data and thus ensure the reliability of the representation, unlike current segmentation approaches.

We have an exceptional team of surgeons and radiologists working hand in hand with us. Some of them are now shareholders and this shows the potential of the solution" explains Xavier Wartelle, CEO of AVATAR MEDICAL.

This fundraising will allow the company to equip surgeons and radiologists with virtual reality in France and the United States.
